Knit a River

It’s been awhile since we’ve posted around here, but I wanted to share this neat project—Knit a River.

WaterAid has been actively working for clean water and sanitation for everyone around the world for the last 25 years. I Knit in London came up with the bright idea of a knitted river to add to WaterAid’s campaigns, and once completed, the river will be joining them at all their future events.

So, what can we do? Knit a blue square or two or 50, of course! All they need are 15cm x 15cm squares in blue (what a chance to practice gauge, right?) Send them off to London with your name and email / snail mail address to:

Deadline is sometime in Early 2007, so get knitting—we’ve got 6 months at least! Pass the gift of pure clean water to those who need it all while knitting beautiful blue yarn! What could be sweeter?

Annie's Mitten

Here’s the start of my first mitten. Definitely a practice in patience with the ribbing of the cuff—I think I ripped it out at least 4 times if not more.

annie first mitten

Definitely kid-approved, though. Cort wants the next pair I make!
